Meet Mario Impemba and Rod Allen:
Broadcasting partners for 15 years, covering the Detroit Tigers on Fox.
Looks like this year was one year too many. It’s been reported by Katie Strang of The Athletic that weren’t “part of Wednesday’s broadcast due to a physical altercation between the two television personalities following Tuesday’s game in Chicago against the White Sox. It is not immediately clear what prompted the incident.” A source also told her these two are “like an odd couple.”
Never knowingly seen this two in a press box in my life, but after a quick search, I can tell you there’s no SHOT Impemba won that fight.
Willing to be Impemba handled the situation similarly to the pitcher that hit Allen in Japan all those years ago.
Most of the ex-players turned broadcasters tend to maintain a similar build to their playing days…
…and I would think Allen is no exception. Which only makes it more surprising that a fight took place. Impemba had to know he’d lose this one, right?
My best guess, Allen didn’t like something Impemba was doing so he spoke up. Impemba threw a fit and Allen had no patience for it. BOOM. One punch to the face, a few shoves and then someone came in to break it up.
Weirdly enough, this is also the first time I’ve seen anything about the Tigers in the national news all year.
