Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. WOW!
Damn, this is so dumb.
The Raptors have managed to fool some NBA fans and media over the last couple years, but I think last postseason’s implosion showed everyone the team’s limitations.
Everyone expect Toronto’s brass, that is. They must think this actually puts them over the hump for 2018-2019, right? Because they’ve now acquired someone who has spoken out about where he wants to play after this next season — and it’s not in Toronto. My guess: the Raptors probably think “if Paul George can fall in love with OKC, Kawhi and fall in love with Toronto.”
Yeaaahhhhh, I don’t think so. I’m sure Toronto is a cooler place to live than OKC, but I don’t think that’ll matter in this case. Especially if their is any validity to this tweet.
I can’t say for certain that this is a top-5 dumbest NBA trade of all time, but it has potential and has earned a seat at the table. If Kawhi bounces, it’s a lock. If he never plays, it could actually be THE worst.
Conversely, if he stays, it’s a brilliant move. But I mean, c’mon.
It’s not that DeMar DeRozan is untradeable. If this was a 2K deal, it’d be a no-brainer, you want Kawhi. But I think the Raptors gave up WAY more than anyone else would’ve given up.
Good job by the Spurs though. And who knows, maybe Pop can maximize on DeRozan’s talent.
