I’m sure there’s at least one joke you can make here. I mean this is the guy who was let go as the Warriors’ coach before they became THE Warriors.
But I won’t do that. I actually like Mark Jackson.
However. I will point out he made an idiotic comment when the Celtics were embarrassing the Cavs in Game 1.
During the ESPN broadcast of the game, Jackson said he’d vote for Dwane Casey over everyone else in the league and, “that’s not a knock against Brad Stevens or anything . . . You could’ve gone a lot of different ways . . .” Jeff van Gundy then felt the need to chime in, and brought nothing to the table.
Jackson’s right about one thing: that’s not a knock on Stevens.
What it is, though, is a knock on Jackson.
I get it’s just one game and I don’t doubt for one second the Cavs could bounce back in a big way against this series — even though they looked HORRIFIC outside of the third quarter.
No matter what though, the Celtics did what the Raptors couldn’t even DREAM of doing last round.
But Casey was the best coach in the NBA.
Stephen A. Smith and everyone else is talking about how BAD Brett Brown was in 76ers v. Celtics, but Casey was the COACH OF THE YEAR.
Give the man his due. Stevens is a genius and got disrespected by his colleagues. That’s evident now more than ever.
